This cover features beyonce very early on in her career.
Main image: the Main Image of billboard features Beyonce. This is probably her first billboard cover. This is suggested to us by her being behind the billboard masthead. this implies that she is not yet famous enough to carry the front cover on her own and would not need the entire masthead to accompany her. She is making eye contact with the reader and is in black and white. This shows that, due to her not being well known, we don't know her personality and her type of music which therefore cannot be expressed through the main image. This may also imply that she is serious about her music due to the dark colours.
Colour scheme: The colour scheme used for the masthead is the usual masthead for billboard magazine. the cover-lines use red which correlates to the second b in the masthead. It is black and white which makes the billboard standout more and make it more eye catching. This is similar to Drake's first Billboard cover magazine.
Layout is nice and basic, only using a very limited amount of cover-lines and not blocking the main cover star. the main cover line is white on a dark background. anchorage text is also used which stands out. the masthead is covering the main cover star
