These are the pieces of clothing i have used in my front cover! I may change this later on when i do my double page spread

Drafting and Planning

once again i asked 20 people what they thought of the following masthead! the second masthead font design got the most votes at 7 and was closely followed by third and fourth which both had 5 votes each. fifth got 2 votes and one only got 1 vote. number six did not get any votes.

i may do another questionnaire where i take the second masthead and another one with different typography to see if anyone would change their mind. the reason i am doing this is because i currently do not have access to particular font styles but will do in a week or so.

i feel this font that has been chosen is good and suits the pop genre very well

Drafting and planning

i have adapted my potential font styles to the colour scheme. These are some of the fonts i'm looking into however i may change them later on after i look further into different font styles. now that i have changed these fonts to the colour scheme i can ask my numerous people which one they think would suit the genre of my magazine!

Drafting and Planning

i asked 20 people which colour scheme they felt was best for a pop magazine! above are the results. 70% said that they felt yellow would be the most suitable! furthermore grey and blue both were only chosen by 15% of the people each. overall yellow was the most dominant! I think yellow will be best for a pop magazine because its vibrant and the specific type of music genre ( pop) is very vibrant and flamboyant.

drafting and planning

These are some of the potential colour schemes i have chosen for my magazine's house style! these three styles are vastly different from one another! to decide which one i intend to use i will ask various people to fill out a survey and put my results into a graph which will ultimately decide my colour scheme for my magazine!

organisation: Mise en scene

For my photo shoot coming up i have been looking at different types of outfits and props to help my cover star appear to belong to that specific music genre. Below are some of the props that i am considering using.
This a beanie which a lot of artists do wear from time to time. Furthermore it appeals to a younger generation as a loot of teenagers wear beanies too. This would appeal to a younger target audience for my final draft of my magazine.

This is also another prop i am thinking of using. This is a bracelet which if  id do use could say a lot about the main cover star and his music. such as wealth and character. This bracelet has a bead in the the shape of the iconic Hero 'Batman' which would suggest that the cover star isn't just into music and makes them more interesting to read about in general

Organisation: photoshoot

from checking the weather it appears that the weather is looking good on Saturday the 16th of December. i was heading into Birmingham city centre at the weekend anyway to take some photos of my model around Digbeth especially the graffiti area of Digbeth. however i do feel that this is also a time to decide what would look best on my front cover. what i mean by this is would i prefer having a cover which has good weather or a cover which focuses on more dark colours and taking advantage of weather that is more winter. for this i will look at the genre of music and what tone or mood my cover star will portray. this is a pop genre so both setting could work for this type of music choice. I will take images in different weather conditions and decide which oone looks better and suits my artists genre

Drafting and Planning

Here are some of the fonts that i have decided to use for my magazine front cover. i have used a varied amount of different fonts for my masthead. i also did an exemplar magazine cover with the coloured masthead to see how i could position it in a magazine cover and which one would suit it best. The different use of masthead fonts gives a varied look at potential different styles to my magazine. It also gives me a chance to look at different colours ad typography to suit the genre of the magazine which, as it says in the masthead,is pop.

To get an idea of what readers like i could do a survey over social media or by handing out sheets to people to help me decide which masthead is the best and what i can do to improve it.

independent post

For my location of where i will take my original photos i have decided to take them next to National Express coach station in Digbeth. This is because there is a large amount of different graffiti types which give a very artistic look of our world and even use physical objects to help bring their art alive. i feel this will be good for my pop magazine because of the different forms of art. i do have to be careful however because graffiti is usually associated with Grime and hip-hop however if i choose which pieces to photograph then it could be a good reflection of the pop music genre.

Drafting and Planning

This is a magazine cover, which was inspired by Q magazine. i decided to base it on Q magazine's style simply because majority of my research has been done on Q magazine. i have decided to use majority of conventions on this. This is only a Draft and could be improved upon for example i could add something in the space towards the bottom like a features list however Q magazine doesn't really go for things like this.

i could also rearrange this and make a varied amount of cover drafts and see what one looks the best. This is my own magazine so i could have a features list on my cover. i could also add more cover lines on the right hand side of cover. i will experiment more with my cover and see what i can add and rearrange
